Welcome To PrimeHills

These words describe the Roaring Twenties - when high-priced investment products flooded the marketplace - and our founders believed clients deserved a new kind of investment firm.PrimeHills was founded with the goal of putting clients' interests first through a focused set of investment strategies designed to preserve and enhance their investment capital over the long term and offered at reasonable and transparent fees. These principles still guide our firm more than 25 years later.

We have built our firm to withstand periods of turbulence on the bedrock of independent ownership, financial strength, a commitment to active, value-oriented investing, and a deep belief in the power of fundamental research, diverse perspectives, and teamwork. Our culture emphasizes our fiduciary responsibility to our clients and Fund shareholders above all else.


Since our founding, we have globalized the depth and breadth of our research, the strategies we offer, and the clients we serve. What has not changed is our belief that the combination of deep fundamental research, a long-term investment horizon, and a valuation discipline can produce attractive long-term investment results for our clients.

Our Story

PrimeHills were disillusioned with the conflicts of interest embedded in the investment world of 1930 and saw an opportunity to create a new kind of asset management firm. One deliberately designed to put clients and community before itself. One with a simple business model focused entirely on pursuing investment excellence. One built on a bedrock of independent ownership, integrity, and team stability - so it could serve our clients not just for decades, but for generations. From our roots in San Francisco, PrimeHills has become one of the largest independently owned investment firms in the world. We manage money for individuals and institutions globally with a single investment philosophy applied across a focused set of offerings. Undistracted by short-term product trends, advertising, or sales targets, we focus on what matters most - helping people realize their investment goals by deeply mastering the complexity of investing. It means all our resources honing fewer strategies. More passion driving fewer priorities. More confidence backing every decision. We believe deeply in what we do and invest our own savings alongside our clients' assets.

At PrimeHills, we recognise our responsibility to contribute to the transition and we are focused on measuring and reducing our operational footprint as well as that of our investment portfolios. It is our responsibly to understand how every cog in the PrimeHills wheel is affecting the planet. For our clients, we have a responsibility to understand how climate change may impact our portfolios and what we can do to minimise the risks, be they physical or transitional. We believe that to deliver our best for our stakeholders we must, think, act and invest responsibly. One aspect of this is our 2021 commitment to achieve net zero emissions across the group by 2050 or sooner.

You can ask us to email or post to you an up-to-date valuation at any time. You can also access your portfolio 24 hours a day through our secure online portal.
We have invested in our ability to monitor how your investments perform. The sophisticated, market-leading software that we use enables us to provide you with comprehensive performance data and portfolio information. Our systems also enable investment managers to manage tax issues that may arise in your portfolio and prepare the information needed for tax returns

Maintaining high standards




Given the flexibility enjoyed by our investment managers, effective oversight is very important.
As well as the monitoring of investment performance by our investment executive committee, which ensures that returns are satisfactory and consistent with the levels of risk being taken, investment managers also have regular peer reviews for suitability to ensure their portfolios reflect the individual client's investment requirements and attitude to risk.

Management

A Centralized Resource, a Firm-wide Responsibility Risk management has been central to PrimeHills's investment culture since our founding in 1939. As an employee-owned manager, everyone at PrimeHills is invested in identifying and managing risk - risk to our clients, risk to our portfolios, risk to our reputation. We believe that fostering an environment of strong internal control is vital.
To this end, we have established a rigorous risk management framework that features dedicated investment and operational risk teams who work to protect client assets and our reputation.
Our risk professionals act as an independent complement to each investment team's portfolio construction process, driving investment and operational risk reviews in collaboration with other control units of the firm, such as information technology, operations, legal and compliance, asset management guideline oversight and internal audit.
With our Chief Risk Officer reporting directly to PrimeHills's Chief Executive Officer, our risk management structure is enhanced by an ability to escalate issues as necessary to firm leadership as well as our fund boards and firm board of directors.
